How Quadro’s Network Held Strong During The COVID-19 Pandemic

August 4, 2020

When the clock struck Midnight on January 1st, 2020 no one could have imagined the year we’d be in for.

While the news started to trickle in about a strange new virus in China, it wasn’t until March that it started to affect Canadians on a larger scale.

March 17th Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer announced Canada would move from containment to mitigation.  March Break went from 1 to 3 weeks in Ontario., then ultimately closed for the remainder of the school year. The Premiere asked all non-essential businesses closed, and for Ontario residences to only go out for essential trips, such as groceries and medication.   Effectively closing down the province to help stop the spread of what we now call COVID-19.

Since Quadro is a telecommunications company, we were deemed an essential service by the Government.  With schools and March break camps closed, no daycare and most people working from home, Quadro saw internet traffic spike to historical levels.  Our network held strong as we had put redundancies into our network for unforeseeable events, such as this.  Our Support and Customer Service staff were working from home and though our physical locations were closed, we handled record call volumes, all while trying to help our kids with online learning, just like you.

Quadro has not had a major outage on our network during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, which speaks volumes to our commitment to our customers and the strength of our network.   Quadro’s Fibre network is fast, reliable and steady and you can be sure when you’re a Quadro customer, network disruptions and outages are a thing of the past.

As we enter Phase 3, our Kirkton, Mitchell and St. Mary’s retail locations are open by appointment only Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and are happy to serve you.  To book an appointment or speak with one of our committed Customer Service Representatives, please call 519.229.8933, Option 2.

Quadro Communications has always, and will ways put people before profits.  We are a small but mighty team of 35 employees that live and work in our serving communities and are proud of the work we do.  As we slowly start to open back up and book more in-home installations, you can be confident we continue to follow all local health unit recommendations, going above and beyond to keep our customers and staff safe.

While it has been a challenging 5 months as we adjust to our ‘new normal’, Quadro has been committed to our customers and will continue to do so, whatever is thrown at us.

Stay healthy and strong.

Shannon Smith, Quadro’s Sales and Marketing Manager.
