A Quadro Customer is a Quadro Owner

Quadro Communications blog February 2023 A Quadro Customer is a Quadro Owner

At Quadro, we provide residential and business services such as internet, television, and mobility. But we are also a cooperative.

What does that mean? Our business name is Quadro Communications Co-operative Inc. and we are a different business model. We’re not like the big telecommunications companies that run on profits.

At Quadro we aren’t shareholder driven, we’re people driven. Our profits are reinvested and shared with the communities we serve. We give back through donations, sponsorships, and to our members.

Cooperatives are member-owned organizations that are responsible to their members, not external shareholders. Our primary responsibility is to meet our members’ needs. As a customer, you’re offered a $1.00, one-time member share – one member, one vote. We share the power among all members, rather than concentrated in the hands of a few. Members elect the Board of Directors and when necessary, vote on specific issues at the annual general meeting.

Benefits of Membership

There are many benefits to being a member of Quadro.

Pride of Ownership

Your $1 share makes you a member and an owner of the company.

You Have a Voice

As a member, you have an opportunity to assist in providing direction to the company. And you can vote at the annual members’ meeting or by running for a director’s position on the board. The virtual AGM is Thursday, March 9th at 7:00 pm.

You Share the Profits

When the Board of Directors declares a patronage return, you receive payment. This is a percentage of what each member paid into Quadro over the course of the previous calendar year. That payment will show as a credit on your active, up-to-date account. In 2022 we paid over $266,775.00 back to our members.

Support Your Local Community

Quadro re-invests in our communities through donations and sponsorships. In 2022, we gave over $15,000 plus a $20,000+ yearly commitment for several years to both the St. Marys Hospital Foundation and the West Perth Village Seniors Community.

Scholarship & CYL Program

Students living with a Quadro member are eligible to apply for a scholarship grant. Younger students can apply for a Co-operative Young Leaders (CYL) program. The Ontario Co-operative Association offers the program. Quadro sponsors it up to $1,000.

Quadro has two $1,000 scholarships for students studying at a post-secondary institution. We encourage youth in our service area to apply.

Your monthly payment to Quadro lets us spend that money to:

  • Buy local supplies and equipment
  • Pay local taxes
  • Pay membership patronage credits for Quadro services
  • Fund local cultural, sporting, health, and other organizations through sponsorships and donations
  • Hire local contractors
  • Upgrade services that improve local business development and your quality of life
  • Create local jobs and pay employees
  • Employees buy local goods and services supporting local businesses
  • Returns to the community may be supporting your household

We’re Local, Just Like You

Quadro Communications has roots in your community. We began in 1924 as the Blanshard Municipal Telephone System. The company was restructured in 1995 into a cooperative, Quadro Communications.

Quadro is your company, let’s make it the best it can be!
