What is VoIP?

VoIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol, or in more common terms phone service over the Internet.

If you have a quality Internet connection you can get phone service delivered through your Internet connection.

Why Use VoIP?

There are two major reasons to us VoIP:

Lower Cost

In general phone service via VoIP cost less than equivalent service from a traditional landline. There are also some cost savings due to using a single network to carry voice and data. This is especially true when users have existing under-utilized network capacity that they can use for VoIP without any additional costs.

Increased Functionality

Incoming phone calls are automatically routed to your VoIP phone where ever you plug it into the network. Take your VoIP phone with you on a trip, and anywhere you connect it to a quality internet connection, you can receive your incoming calls.

There are a lot of features VoIP phones can offer that traditional landlines can’t. For example, if you’re unable to take a call at your desk and someone leaves you a voicemail, you can listen to it in an audio file that is emailed as an attachment, known as ‘Voicemail to email’. You can also set multiple devices to ring when your business number is called. These are just a few examples of how VoIP can benefit any size business.
