The Donnelly Homestead Site Tour
Front view of the Donnelly Homestead
In the early hours of Wed., February 4, 1880, five members of a Biddulph Township family met their death at the hands of their neighbours. Since that occurrence in Canadian history, stories have been told, books written, songs sung, and plays performed that have reached, and sustained interest and fascination in this tragedy.

Robert Salts and his family wish to extend a warm
welcome to everyone to come and visit one of
Canada's intriguing tourist attractions...

Tour the site where the Donnelly family lived and died.

Hear the story as told by Robert Salts who lives on the original land that was
settled by James Donnelly and his wife, Johannah.

The walking tour begins in 1842 when the Donnellys first arrived in Canada from
Tipperary County in Ireland, and traces their lives through time to the night of the
massacre and 1939 when the property was sold out of the Donnelly name.

The 90 minute tour (time approximate) includes a fascinating look at artifacts and
original photographs of family members. Also included is a tour of the Donnelly barn.

and Fragrance Free Environment

The Donnelly Barn
The Donnelly Barn
The barn was burned in 1870 and rebuilt sometime after 1880. The two
barns were combined in 1906 and put up on poured cement at that time.

It's a tour worth taking, and
one that you will long remember!
